Before becoming a brand ambassador, you need to make sure you have your niche lined up. This can be anything from various social channels, playing an important part within your sport/community or media projects.
Once you're ready to connect with a brand:
1. Introduce yourself if you do not already have a relationship.
2. Let them know of your area of expertise and what position you hold within that niche.
3. Let them know your action plan - e.g. if you have a YouTube channel, let them know how often you drop new videos, how will the product be shown in the videos and how much will it be seen.
4. The brand will want to know how much publicity they are going to get from giving you their product.
If a brand contacts you:
1. Well done! You've been picked up by their radar so you're obviously doing something right.
2. Do you love the brand? You are going to be the one wearing / using it, and to speak/promote it organically, you will need to love it.
3. Hash out what is expected from both parties. What does the brand expect from you?
4. It's like a marriage at the end of the day - both parties need to make sure they are getting what they want from the ambassadorship. The ambassador wants product / payment, the brand wants good quality promotion.
